 Welcome to our new division in Rangpur

Rangpur division : Rangpur division is became Bangladesh's seventh division on january 25, 2010. Before that, it had been the northern 8 districts of the Rajshahi division. The Rangpur division consists of 8 districts: Rangpur, Dinajpur, Kurigram, Gaibandha, Nilphamari, Panchagarh, Thakurgaon and Lalmonirhgat.There are 58 upazila's or sub districts under this eight districts. Rangpur is the northern most division in Bangladesh and has a population of 5,665,000 at the 2011 census.

The major cities of this new division are Rangpur and Dinajpur. Rangpur has well-known educational institutions, such as Carmichael college, Hajee Mohammed Danesh Science and Technology university, Rangpur medical college, Rangpur cadet college and Begum Rokeya university.

The central city-Rangpur-has a historical importance and identify. Mansingh, commander of Emperor of Akbar conquered part of Rangpur in 1575. Rangpur came completely under the Mughal Empire in 1986. Mughalbasa and Mughalhat of kurigram district still bear marks of the Mughal rule in the region. During the Mughal rule Rangpur was under the sarker Ghoraghat. Rangpur Ghoraghat has been mentioned in the Riyaz-us-Salatin. During the early period of the company rule Fakir-Sannyasi resistance and peasant rebellion were held in Rangpur.

Historical places of Rangpur division : 



Thick cotton carpet : A brie history : Sataranci is a thick cotton carpet. Once upon a time Rangpur was famous for Sataranci. That sataranci was so famous that it is emperor such as Akbar also used it. This sataranci was devoid from mechanical use. It is made only with bamboo and its sahpe is geometrical. Village people made this by their own design. Once upon a time the sataranci of this area was sold in India, Pakistan, Indonesia, Srilanka, Thailand and Malaysia and many other countries of the world. By being inspired of this many people of India and Pakistan made sataranci and export it to other countries and earned many other foreign money. In 1830 British collector in Mr. Nishbet working Rangpur for invest for doing wall for this culture. Thats why a villageo of Rangpur filled with this culture was named Nishbet polli.



Mithapukur masjid : Brief history of Mithapukura mosque, the mosque is oblong size and it has three domes. Its volume is about 10.66m*4.11m. in front of this mosjid beside the surrounded yard three is a entrance door which is made by Bangladeshi local culture. There are also 4 corner tower which is higher than the corner of the roof and finished as a size of kiupola by dividing the oblongate mosque in three parts with 2 literal vault here it is three made semi round domes. Three mirhab, the in front wall and the drams of the domes all are designed with beautiful panel, spinsch, flower, geometrical sizes and as hoods of snakes from the inscription of the wall. It is known that masjid was made by Sheikh Mohammed Asher son of Sheikh Mohammed Saber in 1226 hijre(1801).




Rangpur Zoo : Rangpur zoo is located east side of Hunuman-tola road beside pollice line not far from Rangpur district administration office. In this zoo there has lots of Bangladeshi wild animel. Without it african lion, Black panther, Hippopotamus, different kinds of birds, snake & some rare animel and birds. Founder of Rangpur zoo President Ershad, was responsible for lots of additions to Rangpur. They donated land for a zoo with a massive park in the midst of town. The Rangpur zoo was built in 18th Decade in 19th century.




Tajhat Jamindar Bari : Tajhat Jamindar Bari in Rangpur district on of the important attractive archeological patterns of the country. The founder of Tajhat actual estate of Mannalal was professional jeweler. They came Mahiganje & set-led here.That time Mahiganje was a famous business city and headquarter of Rangpur. Mahilal established a building at Tajhat for business per-pous. The long line of Mannalal Roy's relatives succession ends with a grand-grand-son, Giridharilal Roy. Science Giridhari adopted Gobindalal because they had no children who succeeded to the estate in 1879. After they came to live in Tajhat, because of his mass popularity they was awarded the tittle of "Raja" in 1885. 'Raja Bahadur' in 1892 & Maharaja inj 1896. Raja Gobindalal met a tragic death his own house in the work of in earthquake in 1897. After his died his son Gopal lal ray bahadur (1885-1955) got the actual state and start building the Tajhat jamindar Bari. In 1917 construction of the place was completed.


Ramsagar Dighi : Ramsagar is a largest man made lake of Bangladesh situated in the village Tajpur eight kilometer south of the Dinajpur town. The lake is about 1079m north-south and length 192.6m in East-West. Ramsagar was established the mid  1750s by Raja Ram Nath. About 1.5 million worker took part to dug the lake and total cost in 30000 taka that time.



Ramsagar National park : The total area of Ramsagar national park about 60 sq km. Forest department of Bangladesh have planted different type of  ornamental and fruit trees that have flourished and become forested areas. Around the Ramsagar it is a familiar picnic place for tourist. The Bangladesh porjoton corporation has improve some tourist facilities around the Ramsagar lake, such-as rest rooms, picnic spots




Shopnopuri theme park :  Shopnopuri is a beautiful amusement park. It is one of the most attractive artificial tourist places in North Bengal of Bangladesh. Shopnopuri is located at Aftabganj, Nababganj sub district of Dinajpur district. Shopnopuri is a theme park and its total area is 920 acres. You will need to buy ticket to enter the park. At the gate, two statue of angels are waiting to welcome you.




Nayabad Mosque : Nayabad mosque or masjid is located on the side of the river Dhepa in Nayabad, Ramchandra union, Kaharole sub district of Dinajpur district. This masjid is situated about twenty kilometer to the North-west of the Dinajpur town. The masjid established about 1.15 bighas of land. A madrasha institute has recently been maid in front of the masjid. 



Barajamalpur Mosque : Bara jamal mosque is situated at the village Bara (bada) jamalpur under shadollapur thana of  Gaibanda district, about 12 km. east of pirganj  thana headquarter, 6 km. dues west of Shadollapur thana headquarter.
This rectangular three-domd mosque is raised on a low plinth. Length internally north to south 11.40 m and width east to west 3m externally, 13.90m by 5.50m. There are three arched door, of which the central one is slightly larger. There is two window filled with grills in the north and south walls, a single mihrab on the qibla.

There is no correct evidence of is established date. But local people says that a person named Haji jamaluddin built it. There is no epigraphical evidence of its date. But local tradition relates that Haji jamaluddin, he was a local revenue officer of Mughal administration. Who leis buried on the northern side of the mosque compound, the masjid named after him. On the ground of its style similarity with the dariyapur masjid or mosque. For that an early 18th century date may be suggested for the masjid.  




Teen bigha corridor : The teen bigha corridor is a Fragmant of land belonging to India. It is located between Dahagram-Angarpota enclaves at kucalibari in patgaam sub district of Lalmonirhat on the west Bengal-Bangladesh border. Which in Septembar, 2011, was leased to Bangladesh so that it can access its Dahagram-Angrapota enclaves. According to the Indira Sheikh Mujib treaty of 1974, India and Bangladesh were to hand over the sovereignty of the Teen bigha ( Tieen is Three is Bengali and Bigha is a unit of area roughly 1,500 to 6,771 square meter) corridor (178x85 sq m.) and south Birubari (7.39 sq km) to each adjacent to south Birubari. Bangladesh did handover the bigger south Birubari to India in 1974.  India, however, rejected to transfer the much smaller smaller corridor to Bangladesh.




Old Mosque or Old Masjid : From Rangpur-Kurigram highway 1 km. south and Ramadassa Maujaya in pancagrama union of Lalmonirhat the ancient mosque is located. This is a very old mosque. In a inscription date indicate Hijri year 69.


Land Lord House : The Tushabhandra landlord house is located on the union of the north ghanesyama maujaya in Tushabhadra counsil in kaliganj sub district.



Poet Sheikh Fazlul Karim : Sheikh Fazlul Karim's house is in the union Kakina kaliganj  Kakina Mouzaya which is widely known as "Kabi Bari" (poets house). Karim was born in Bengali 13th chaitra in 1289. ( According to history researcher samar pal 24 April, 1883) at the end of Monday night Tuesday , in kaliganj sadar Kakina village.


Tista Barrage : Largest  Irrigation project of Bangladesh is Tista Barrage. Tista Barrage is situated on Tista River at Dauni union in hatibandha sub district in Lalmonirhat district. the length of Tista Barrage is 615 metre. Its built with concrete.


Sindurmoti Dighi : It is situated at Panchagram in Lalmonirhat district. In the month of Chaitra the peoples of Hindus do worship. Peoples says that a Hindu land woner Narayan chakrawarti dag this pond cause of drought. But got a dream to work ship by leaving  two daughter of him in the middle of the pond named Sindu and moti. But he failed to bring all the aliments for the worship. When he want to take all the aliments the pond fulfilled  with water. The two daughter of the landowner fail to reach in the bank and died. After that he saw a dream that his two daughter got immortality.


Munsi Bari :Munsi Bari is situated at Dhoroni union from 7km north-east of ulipur sub district in Kurigram district. Brajen Munsi agent of landlord sbarnamaya  established this house for his one use. A inscription of a building beide the house established by Brajen munsi indicate the  established date 1880 A.D. from here it is hypothesis that house of Brajen Munsi was built from few days before of that building. Now this building use for the union.


Chilmari Port : Chilmari port is located bank of the Brahmaputra river about 35 km south from Krigram district headquarter. Importance Brahmaputra river and Chilmari port is undesirable. Brahmaputra is 8th largest river of the world. Popular Bhaoyaila songs of Abbas uddin about chilmari Bandor is also now folk resourse of Bangladesh. In the time of British period many large ships up and down by the Brahmaputra river. At present this port is use of ineligible dew to reduce of  Navigability. Now only shipping, Transport is available and in a little range, the port is used too.


Nilphamari museum : The past administration office of Nilphamari Mahakuma (Sub-division) is now know as Nilphamari museum many sign of the history and heritage of Nilphamari.is resorted here. It is situated in Nilphamari headquarters.


Rajbari :  Anceint Harisacandra part or Rajbari is locatek at Khutamara union in joldhaka upazila of Nilphamari district. It is situated south side the river charal kata. Now it all ruins. There is a Elavation on the elavation are 5 black stone. people says that of that area those stone some time sink and arm in the soil. Many people says that it is a grave or building of the king. Beside this elavation there are more two elavation. In the north side of part or Rajbari there has two pond name Duyo-Suyo. Which carry the mamory of two princes Anuda and padun.
