Barisal district : Barisal district with an area of 2,790,51 km square is bounded by Madaripur, Shariatpur, Chandpur and Laksmipur district in the north, paruakhali, Barguna and Jhalokati districts in the south, Laksmipur and Bhola districts in the east, Jhalokati and pirofpur Gopalganj districts in western.

Important upazila and places : The are 10 upazila in Barisal. The upazilas are Agailjhara, Baduganj, Bakerganj, Banaripara, Gournadi, Hizla, Barisal sadar, Mahendiganj, Muladi, wazirpur. Postal code - 8700.

Travel from Dhaka : There are available bus 24 hours a day. It is easy to go Barisal from Dhaka. There is an national airport in Barisal.

Statistics : population 2330960, male 49.99%, female 50.01%, Muslim 86.19%, Hindu 13.19%, Christian 0.63% and others 0.08%. Avarage literacy 42.9%.

Agricultural contribution : Main crops Paddy, Jute, Oil seed, Betel nut, Onion, Sugarcane etc.

Attractive places of Barisal division :

Kirtypasha place : Kirtypasha place was in the name of Kirty Narayana. Ramjibon sen was the founder of Kirtypasha. Rahini roy and the Tapon roy are the jewels of this family. steamer Dock,  Rohiniganj is a contribution of Rohini roy, with this, there is a hospital that is older than Jhalokathi district hospital. Co-mortal sign also is here. The grave of Rohini roy re-made. Family shiva mandir and a shiva stratus here present. Kirtypasha village is located about  4/5 km. away from Jhalokathi town.

Jibonanda das er mama bari : Jibananda das er mama bari Dhanshiri river is a dream of our natural's poet Jibonanda das. Where from he made " I'll come again to the bank of Dhanshiri river of his Bangladesh. His father's name is sattyananda das, mother's name is kumshum kumara das. His old home was Goupara, Bikrampur but he born in Natun Bazar under Barisal in 17th February, 1899. Dhanshiri river is located south point of Bangladesh that is Rajapur under Jhalokathi. In British period, there was rout from Barisal-Jhalokathi-Rajapur-Saturia-Kaoakhali-Pirojpur-Khulna-culcutta by steamer of this river. There was paddy field both side of river. Near of this river there are  located of his uncle's home. Poet came here with his mother in his boyhood. Though he lived in with his parents but his uncles home was more attractive by him. Here he enjoyed natural beauty of Dhanshiri river.

Rajapur saturia place : Rajapur saturia place saturia is an ideal village of Rajapur under Jhalokathi district. Saturia village is  located behind bekutia ferry dock, there in matulalaya born tiger of Bengal Sher- E-Bangla A.K.Fazlul Haque. The place was made about 3 hundred years ago. Besides this, there are many ponds, flower garden, three wall designed  Mughal building. Main gate are also at this place area that has hundred acre land. His father house is chakhar under Barisal district, but he passed his honey boyhood in his uncle home.

Rakhain area and Buddhist academy in Barguna district : Rakhain area and Buddhist academy in Barguna district in Barguna district in Barisal division  in south-eastern Bangladesh. Rakhain of Barguna district means Aborigin of ex Mog of Bakerganj district present Patuakhali and in Barguna district area. Besides this  Buddhist academy also established here. Peoples of Buddhist religious are learn about their religion and practice religious occasions. There are a lot of Rakhains live from a many days . Rakhain, the a small tribe of arakan origin belonging to the Bhotbermy community of the mongoloids. Many consider that Rakhains and their neighbours, marmmas are in fact, the same time.

Birshrestho Mostofa kamal memorial museum : In memorial of Birshrestho Mostofa kamal Government of people's Republic of Bangladesh Birshrestho Mostofa kamal memorial  museum at his fatherland Moutupi Mouja under Alinagar union in Bhola district in Barisal division.

Here is a lot points of memorial of liberation war of Bangladesh. Library, auditorium and the memories that come to mind to travel away the splendor of this image. Memorial marks preserved at the museum and the history books up of the new generation.

  Water kingdom : Water kingdom of Bangladesh, there are no any visiting or tourism places in recreation in Bhola district. Recently man made a park called "Water kingdom" to pass  leisure period and for the childrens. This park is not natural but an amusing. Water kingdom is located in Char Noabad of sadar thana under Bhola district.

 Laldia sea beach : Laldia sea beach is situated at patharghata sub-district ( patharghata upazila ) of Barguna district. This sea beach is not famous but full of natural beauty.

Hringhata : Horinghata is a place or spot where you can watch deer and natural beauty. Sometimes the Royal Bengal Tiger is seen in the Horinghata forest. Horin is a Bangali ( Bangladeshi ) word means deer. So name says that why is named Horinghata. You can travel  Haringhata from Barguna district.

Sonakata or Shonarchar : Sonakata or Shonar char is a small island sea beach that is 32 km. long so beautiful. The sea, sunrise and sunset can be view from this place. You can travel  sea from this beach. Way to go to the beach through the deep forests. So, it's adventure travelling and charming too. On the way you will see 2 forest offices here. In a word it is so much beautiful. It is located at Barguna district.

Bibichini Shahi Masjid : Bibichini Shahi Masjid was built at middle sultane period in the 25th century the time of the Ahmed Shah, Jalal-al-din's son. Bibichini Shahi Masjid is located at Betagi in Barguna district. Shaw Neyamata was constructed this mosques in 1969. The village and the mosque named after the named his daughter hayachi bibichini. This mosque is thirty feet in length, width of thirty feet, the walls six feet wid. There are three grave beside mosque. The building are all constructed of brick.

Char Kukri Mukri : Cahr Kukri Mukri is the natural beauty that rises on the chest of Bhola. It is well known as dwip kanya too.

Natural lover travellor loves it's natural beauty and mango foresty, wild life and sea. A lot of deer, cows, buffelo, monkeys and various species of wild animals and birds are lives in this island. 

Monpura island : Monpura  is one of the famous nice island  at Bhola in Bangladesh. Small monpura island under charfashion sub district is full of forest under forestry. The main attractions of monpura are spotted deer, monkey, pythin and lots of different kinds of birds. The green formets by the Forests Department about a decade ago in the natural beauty has turned costal Monpura island in to at attractive tourist places. Animals were also released  at same time. During winter season, lots of foreign birds come to the island. The main attractive feature of this island is one can sea both sunrise and sunset from here.

 Oxford mission high school : Oxford mission high school is a well-known school of Barisal. This school is special for its large playground. Its education system is British ( missionary ) education system. Beautiful natural environment, discipline and many other facilities. Its academic performance is good. This school was founded christian missionaries in nineteenth century. Christian fatherhood at 1st maintains this school from UK. Now school is under church of Bangladesh. This is the most beautiful and biggest school in Barisal district.

Guthia mosque : Guthia mosque or Baitul aman jame masjid  is a famous mosque in Barisal. It is also on of the most beautiful mosque in Bangladesh. Mr. s. Sarfuddin Ahmed santustablish established this mosque in 16 December, 2003. He spent 10 millions dollars build this Guthia masjid. It designs are taken from Europe, Asia and Middle East's most famous mosque.  In this masjid, there is lots of expensive marble stone on the wall.  Which is bring from Egypt (misr). Beside the mospue,there is  a madrasa, joind for walkway. The masjid area is park-like the flower garden, shrubs, fruit tree, park like atc. In the
mosque area there are also several ponds and canals.

Bibir Pukur in Barisal : Bibir Pukur the most popular and ancient pond of Barisal city. Pukur means pond. Which is located in the heart of city.

Gangamati Reserved Forest : Ganagamati Reserved Forest is situated at Patuakhali  district in Barisal division. Gangamati evergreen mangrove forest in kuakata there is evergreen mangrove forest  name Gangamati Reserved Forest. Gangamati Reserved Forest is located to the east of Jhau Forest or Jhau Bon. While visiting there you will see nice structures of forests, big trees, sands etc. Gangamati is a forest where you will see various kinds of birds. So tourist your excursion can be incompoete you don't pay a visit to Gangamati.

Jhau Bon at Kuakat : Beautiful Jhau Bon or Jhau forest is situated at kuakata. Jhau Bon is another nice spot of kuakata. This forest surrounded by many jhau and coconut trees. It's full of natural beauty. Jhau bon is near to the beach. You can visit there by walking or bike. In jhau bon or jhau forest there is a Ecko park. Ecko park of kuakata is very beautiful spot  for made a picnic. Early in the morning the sun rising can be viewed from the corner.

Bjuddhist temple : Kuakata is the spot of pligrimage for both Hindu and Buddhist communities. Mistripara Buddhist in kuakata there has a Buddhist temple. It is  another atteaction of kuakata. This temple are in the kuakata parjatan area and in the Rakhains locality. This Buddhist temple age is about 100 years old. In this temple there has a statue of Gautama Buddha. This is the biggest Buddhist statue of Bangladesh at kuakata and there also two wells of 200 years old.

Kuakata Sea Beach : Kuakata is a beautiful sea beach of Bangladesh. Kuakata situated in patuakhali district. Kuakata has a wide sandy beach. In this sea beach one can see both the sunrise and sunset. Kuakata sea beach is about 320km south of Dhaka capital of Bangladesh and 70km from the district of patuakhali. The kuakata sea beach is 30km. long and 6km. wide.

Landlord House : Parer Haat Zamindar Bari eighteen kilometer away from jiyanagar sub district of Pirojpur. It is the Zamindar Bari of Zamindar surya Bahadur Bajpaye. It is heard  that he had a familial relation with the ex prime minister of India Atal Bihary Bajpaye.

Momin Mosque : Momin masjid in Pirujpur district 100 years old famous Mamin mosque is located in front of the prominent Akon house which is 200 years old. Momin mosque is located at the Northern end of Mothbaria sub district . It is designed with specialized wooden art work which was a new trend of Endo-Paris and European. For this cultural ministry has declared and listed it as a "Preserved ancient property" in 17 April,2003.
